Timothy Shriver - Biography

Timothy Perry Shriver is an American disability rights activist, educator, and film producer who has chaired Special Olympics since 1996, expanding it to serve over six million athletes in more than 170 countries.

Timothy Shriver was born on August 29, 1959, in Boston, Massachusetts, as the third child of Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy Shriver. He pursued higher education at Yale University, Catholic University, and the University of Connecticut. Shriver joined Special Olympics in 1996, leading its expansion globally. He co-founded CASEL and launched UNITE to promote unity across divides. He has produced films like Amistad and authored the memoir Fully Alive: Discovering What Matters Most.
