David Andrew Sinclair was born on June 26, 1969, in Australia. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the University of New South Wales. Following his doctoral work, Sinclair completed postdoctoral training at MIT under Leonard P. Guarente. In 1999, Sinclair was hired by Harvard Medical School, where he established his own laboratory focused on longevity genes and aging biology.
