About Jim Rohn

Jim Rohn - Biography

Emanuel James Rohn (commonly known as Jim Rohn) rose from an Idaho farm background to become a leading personal-development author and seminar speaker whose lessons on discipline, habits, and life purpose influenced generations of trainers and business leaders. He authored numerous books and audio/video programs and received the National Speakers Association’s CPAE Award for excellence in speaking.

Emanuel James Rohn was born into a farming family in the state of Idaho and raised with a strong work ethic that he later credited for shaping his outlook on life and success. In his early adulthood, he worked in retail human resources before becoming exposed to the ideas that would transform his career. In the mid-1950s, Rohn was introduced to entrepreneur John Earl Shoaff and joined Shoaff’s direct-selling business, where he learned sales, leadership, and personal-discipline principles. After Nutri-Bio dissolved in the early 1960s, a Rotary Club invitation to tell his story launched Rohn’s speaking career. Over more than four decades, Rohn refined a practical, story-driven teaching style that emphasized personal responsibility, daily habits, goal setting, and continuous learning.
