Trey Anastasio is the lead guitarist, vocalist, and primary songwriter for the jam band Phish, which he co-founded in 1983. He has built a multifaceted career spanning rock, classical compositions, and Broadway scoring.
Ernest Joseph 'Trey' Anastasio III was born on September 30, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to Princeton, New Jersey, in 1966, where he grew up playing drums and later guitar. He co-founded Phish at the University of Vermont in 1983. Over the years, Anastasio has expanded his career to include classical compositions and Broadway scoring, earning a Tony nomination for Best Original Score in 2013. He has collaborated with numerous artists and continues to tour with Phish and his solo projects.
