Becky Kennedy

Kennedy grew up in Scarsdale, New York; her mother worked as a social worker and her father was a commodities trader, experiences she has said influenced her interest in psychology. She earned a BA in psychology/human development from Duke University and a PhD in clinical psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University. After graduate training, Kennedy maintained a private clinical psychology practice in New York, leading parent-guidance groups and seeing clients while developing her approach that emphasizes understanding parents’ triggers and treating children as 'good inside.' Kennedy started an Instagram account in February 2020 and, as the COVID-19 pandemic began, her parenting posts gained rapid attention and large followings; Time magazine called her the 'millennial parent whisperer.' From that social-media audience, she expanded into paid workshops, online courses, speaking engagements, and a subscription/membership product under the Good Inside brand. In 2021, Kennedy co-founded Good Inside as a company and scaled it into a business offering workshops, memberships, and digital products; she also authored the book Good Inside, which became a New York Times bestseller.
