Hugh Jackman is an Australian actor, singer, dancer, and producer renowned for portraying Wolverine in the X-Men franchise. He has earned a Tony Award and founded the Laughing Man Coffee social enterprise.
Hugh Jackman was born on October 12, 1968, in Sydney, Australia, as the youngest of five children. His early life was marked by his parents' divorce when he was eight, after which his mother returned to England, leaving him and his siblings with their father. He attended Knox Grammar School and later graduated from the University of Technology, Sydney, in 1991 with a degree in communications. Jackman made his acting debut at age five as King Arthur in a school production of Camelot. Transitioning to professional acting, Jackman trained at drama school and committed to a five-year personal contract to pursue his dream full-time. His breakthrough came with roles in Australian TV, including the soap opera Neighbours and the mini-series Correlli (1995). He gained stage acclaim in Melbourne musicals and internationally for Curly in Oklahoma! (London) and Billy Bigelow in Carousel (New York). His Hollywood debut as Wolverine in X-Men (2000) propelled him to stardom. On Broadway, Jackman debuted in 2003 as Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz, winning a Tony Award in 2004. He diversified with films like The Prestige (2006), Australia (2008), and The Greatest Showman (2017). In 2009, Jackman launched Laughing Man Coffee, a social enterprise to support fair-trade farmers.
