About Peter Diamandis

Peter Diamandis - Biography

Peter H. Diamandis is a physician, engineer, and entrepreneur renowned for founding the XPRIZE Foundation and co-founding Singularity University, driving innovation in space, longevity, and exponential technologies. With degrees from MIT and Harvard, he has launched over 20 companies addressing humanity's grand challenges.

Peter H. Diamandis was born in New York in 1961 and pursued an elite education, earning a BS in molecular genetics and an MS in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT, followed by an MD from Harvard Medical School. At age 25, while studying at Harvard, he took a leave to complete his master's at MIT and served as CEO of International Micro Space, a satellite-launching company, blending his interests in medicine, engineering, and space. Early in his career, Diamandis focused on commercial space exploration, founding, co-founding, or leading over half-a-dozen space firms and more than 20 companies total in fields like education, longevity, and resource management. In 1996, he established the XPRIZE Foundation, overseeing major incentives like the $10 million Ansari XPRIZE for private spaceflight, which spurred the private space industry; current prizes target COVID-19 testing, worker training, carbon capture, and rainforests. Diamandis co-founded Singularity University in 2008 with Ray Kurzweil, backed by NASA and Google, to educate leaders on exponential technologies tackling global challenges. He co-founded BOLD Capital Partners to invest in such tech and launched Fountain Life, a chain of longevity clinics in cities like Dallas, Orlando, and Miami, expanding to Los Angeles and Phoenix in 2025. His optimism about technology's potential—evident in books like Abundance and 2025's Longevity Guidebook—shapes his advocacy for abundance amid automation-driven unemployment.
