About Lynn Lyons

Lynn Lyons - Biography

Lynn Lyons is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist specializing in anxiety disorders in children and families. Based in Concord, New Hampshire, she has been in private practice for over 30 years.

Lynn Lyons earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree in 1990 from Boston University School of Social Work. Over the past three decades, she has developed a distinctive therapeutic philosophy centered on practical skill-building rather than traditional diagnostic labeling. Her approach emphasizes that stress and worry are natural parts of life, and that teaching young people to experience and work through difficult emotions—rather than eliminating them—prepares them better for adulthood. As a clinician, Lyons has built a substantial private practice in Concord, New Hampshire, where she has been working for over 30 years. Her clinical work with anxious children and families has led her to develop specific intervention strategies, including the use of creative modalities such as drawing to help children access and express internal thoughts. Beyond her private practice, Lyons has established herself as an author and international speaker. She co-authored Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents with Reid Wilson, followed by a companion book for younger audiences, Playing with Anxiety: Casey's Guide for Teens and Kids. She also authored Using Hypnosis with Children: Creating and Delivering Effective Interventions, which describes evidence-based treatment approaches for children with anxiety, depression, sleep issues, and medical issues.
